Get a Will - If not, You Might not like the Outcome

If you have a house, a car, retirement plans and personal assets, you need a will while going through and after the divorce.  The will controls the disposition of your separate and community property at your death whether you are divorced or not.  If you die before your divorce is final, who do you want to receive your assets?  Your soon to be ex-spouse or your children?  (The will does not control your beneficiary designations on retirement assets, annuities or assets held as joint tenants with rights of survivorship.)

Parents Hire their Chidren for Senior Care Services

You or your spouse is spending a lot of time taking care of the elderly parents, causing stress in your relationship and is one factor leading to the divorce.  Consider having the parents sign a contract with you for your care services.  This can help them and you get paid for your valuable help.  Even though you would take care of them for free, this might be the best paying job for the economically disadvantaged spouse going through the divorce.
